War has evolved but never changes, it's a brutal engagement with both sides taking massive losses in both human and material resources. Some theatres of war though are even more gruesome than others.

World War I was known as the death of “noble” warfare (as if anything like that ever existed).  Mired in the first use of chemical and the tortuous trench warfare The Great War was characterized by brutal up close combat. The newest addition of the fan favorite franchise Battlefield seeks to put the player in the muck and mire of trench warfare, in the pilot seat of bi-planes and behind a gas-mask. Although entertainment, this game has the potential to remind people of this brutal global conflict that resulted in the death of 7 million civilians and 9 million combatants.
