So, the people who are known as “celebrities” is because they are actually celebrated by the public, therefore, not everyone who is wealthy is also considered a celebrity or famous person.

At the end of the day, being a rich person is way better than being famous. There are some famous people who are currently drowning in debt whereas when you are a billionaire living a quiet life you can easily find a financial security to take care of yourself and your family.

Eliodoro Matte has a net worth of approximately $3 billion, with millions of acres of pine and eucalyptus in Argentina and Chile. Matte studied at the University of Chicago and was a resident of Santiago, Chile. He is currently counting on international trade increases in Chile because of the expansion of his trade port complex in Lirquen, Chile. He has a profitable trade business in moving exports as well as stakes in banking outfits and telecom. Even though this is probably the first time you’re hearing his name, Eliodoro Matte definitely knows how to handle his wealth.

#9 Riley Bechtel

Riley Bechtel is the chairman of the board of Bechtel Corporation, a company of four generations who built the Chunnel and the Hoover Dam. He started working at the company as a mechanic’s helper when he was only 14 years old and in 1990 he became the chairman and chief executive of his family’s wealthy company. He helped the firm make $27 billion in 2007 and in 2008, $34 billion. This rich and highly successful man who no-one knows about has a $4.1 billion net worth.

Do you know Americo Amorim? The successful Portuguese businessman who has a net worth of $4.6 billion because he managed to turn the small cork business of his grandfather from the 1800s to an empire?

Well, his company, Corticeira Amorim, the world’s largest cork producer brings $650 million in sales and even though he is no longer working daily for the company he owns 5% of Corticeira Amorim which means he is constantly making a pretty good amount of money.

#7 John Tu

John Tu, a successful business man with a fortune of $4.4 billion, partnered with David Sun to found Kingston Technology. Tu, who studied electrical engineering, also formed Camintonn in 1982 with Sun which helped him in forming an even larger Kingston Technology. He is also known for having smart investing strategies; he sold 80% of Kingston Technology stock for $1.5 billion in 1996 and then bought the stock back in 1999 at $450 million- nearly one third of its original selling price. If this isn’t smart investing, I don’t know what is.

David Sun, the aforementioned Kingston Technology co-founder is worth about $4.8 billion largely due to being the Chief Engineer for Alpha Micro. As previously mentioned, Kingston Technology is number 1 as the largest privately held computer memory firm in the U.S. with USB flash drives for various technology gadgets worldwide. In 2007, their sales were increased by 22% and reached a profit of $4.5 million.

Reinhold Wurth is a highly successful German businessman who has a net worth of approximately $7.3 billion. He took the family business called Wurth Group when he was 19 and since then he transformed it into an empire, making $12.5 billion in sales a year. That’s an impressive amount, taking into consideration that no-one knows the Wurth Group. Reinhold is very rich and unknown but he knows how to live a wonderful life. Ofer’s family has stake in the Royal Caribbean cruise ship line, meaning they will always have line and are the heads of Zim through an umbrella company Israel Corp. Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen who currently resides in Denmark, is the grandson of the man who created the LEGO company and has a net worth of approximately $9.5 billion. Kristiansen was head of the company for 25 years until LEGO started going through great financial losses and stepped down in 2004. Despite stepping down, he is still the vice chairman of the board and the owner of LEGO. The company went through some restructuring and sold some of LEGO’s assets- 4 Legoland parks so now the company is finally making a comeback. Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa, is a billionaire businessman from Nigeria. His major success on his sugar production earned him a spot on the Nigeria stock exchange and a whopping net worth of $17.1 billion. He started off his career when he was just 21 years old by becoming an investment trader with the help of his uncle- he gave him a loan which allowed him to develop Dangote Group. The company makes profit from investments in oil and gas, textiles, salt manufacturing and real estate.

Carlos Alberto, Marcel Telles and Lemann also control Lojas Americanas, a retail business in Brazil. He is the founder of Banco Garantia- his first real and successful investment which he later sold in 1998 for $675 million. One thing you never knew about this highly successful yet unkown man is that he was also a very successful tennis player back in the day- he even competed at Wimbledon.
