> How do I register?
You can register to OnTopOf with your Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ account. Simply click on the login icon in the website header and then choose one of the displayed services you’d like to use to complete your registration.
> Can I link my account to my social media profiles?
Of course! You can do this by selecting Settings from the dropdown menu. Under Social Links, simply copy your Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, and/or Instagram profile URLs into the corresponding fields. These links will then appear on your public profile.
> Can I change my username?
Unfortunately, no. The username you selected upon registration is permanent.
> How can I change my email address or password?
The beauty about registering on OnTopOf with your Facebook/Twitter/Google+ account is that you don’t need an email address or password to log in to OnTopOf. In other words, your social profiles are your login details. As such, if you want to change your email address or password or both, you’ll have to do so directly through the service you used to register on OnTopOf.
> How can I edit my profile?
Click on Settings from the dropdown menu. Here you will be able to change your profile picture and cover photo as well as include a bio and connect your account to your social media profiles.
> How can I become a verified user?
Verified users are users that our editors select as such. To get our attention and to become a verified user, you’ll need to be an active user on the site and consistently publish high-quality and popular posts.
> How can I delete my account?
If you’re sure you want to delete your account, click on Settings from the dropdown menu and then click “Delete Account”. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address linked to the social media service you used to register to OnTopOf. You’ll be asked to confirm your request by following a link; only click this link if you’re absolutely certain you want to permanently delete your account!
> What happens to my posts after I delete my account?
All your posts (published and drafts) as well as images and all of your account’s content will be permanently deleted. However, if you have any Top Articles under your account, they will be automatically transferred to our own account.
> Can I recover my account after I’ve deleted it?
Sadly, no. Once you delete your account with us, it’s gone forever. However, you can still register to OnTopOf again by using the same social media account you used to create the account that was deleted.
> I think my account has been hacked. What do I do?
If you believe your account has been hacked, please notify us immediately by using the contact form below.
> Someone else used my Facebook account to register to OnTopOf. What do I do?
If you believe someone else used your Facebook account to register to OnTopOf, please notify us immediately by using the contact form below. However, please first ensure that you did, indeed, not register to OnTopOf and simply forgot about it – it’s often the case that we register to so many websites that we forget which websites we have accounts with.

Posts that have not yet been reviewed by our team of editors may be reported for inappropriate or abusive things like nudity, violence, hate speech, gore, etc. Simply use the “Report” button under the post’s title and our quality control team will investigate your report.

> How can I submit a post?
You can submit a post by clicking “Submit Post” displayed in various areas of the site (under “More”, in the Community Area, in the hovering header when viewing a category, in the hovering header’s dropdown menu, or from your profile’s dropdown menu.
> What can I post to OnTopOf?
You can submit content about anything entertaining, inspirational, and educational that falls into one of our 14 categories: Animals, Arts, Culture, Entertainment, Food, Funny, Gaming, Inspirational, Lifestyle, Music, News, Relationships, Tech, and Travel.
> What should I avoid posting to OnTopOf?
Please avoid submitting inappropriate, profane, defamatory, obscene, indecent, or unlawful content. This includes text, images, and any other media. Authors are strictly forbidden from writing about or referencing any or all of the following: extreme profanities; material of an adult or sexually explicit nature; controversial or offensive material; content promoting illegal activities including but not limited to: hacking, terrorism, etc.; content discriminating against age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, disability, etc.; advocacy to drugs or use of drugs or any other content related to drugs; advocacy to weapons or use of weapons or the sale of weapons; libelous content; content that infringes the right of others; and online gambling.
> How can I save a post?
To save a post and to come back to it later, click on the “Safe Draft” button.
> How can I edit a post?
Locate the post you’d like to edit in your Profile and click on the pencil icon. This will take you to the post’s edit view – don’t forget to save any changes you make and resubmit your updated post!
> Where can I see all the posts I create?
All your posts are displayed in “My Profile”. You can access your profile from the dropdown menu. Published posts are shown in the “Posts” tab whereas saved and unpublished posts are shown in the “Drafts” tab.
> Can I create posts in a language other than English?
Unfortunately, no. All posts must be written in either American or British English.
> How do I make my post go viral?
First and foremost, share your article with family, friends, and followers on Facebook, Twitter, and all your other social profiles. Keep it relevant, and make it entertaining and useful. Also, use lists and images (people love them!), and don’t forget to use a compelling title. Finally, consider sharing your post again a month or so later (there’s no harm in recycling old but good content).
> What happens to the stuff I post to OnTopOf?
All posts that you create are automatically published in the Community Area. Your post will remain here unless: a) you’re a verified member, b) our editors feature it on the homepage, or c) you pay to get it promoted to the homepage with the “Make it Top” service.
> How do you decide what gets featured on the homepage?
There’s no set formula as to what gets featured on the homepage, but posts that are well-written and that perform well are generally promoted by our editors to the homepage and in their relevant categories. Posts are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and those that are selected to be featured are first edited for grammar, spelling, etc. before they are promoted from the Community Area.
> What is “Make it Top”?
All posts that unverified users submit to OnTopOf are published in the Community Area and do not appear on the homepage or in their relevant category pages. However, you can pay to get your post edited and promoted on the OnTopOf homepage with “Make it Top”. This gives your posts more exposure and the potential to reach more readers.
> How do I pay for the “Make it Top” service?
You can pay for the “Make it Top” service via PayPal.
> Why won’t my image upload?
Depending on the type of image you wish to upload (article body image, profile picture, etc.), the file will need to meet the minimum size requirements. For example, profile pictures must be at least 200px x 200px in size; you will not be able to upload an image any smaller than this. Any images larger than 5MB will not be accepted.
> What are the image specifications?
There are different specifications for different image types, as explained below:
- Profile picture: 200px x 200px min.
- Cover photo: 1200px (w) x 350px (h) min.
- Featured image: 760px (w) x 430px (h) min.
- Body image: 600px (w) x 340px (h) min.
> How do I attribute images?
Select the image you want to upload to your post, either from your computer or by dragging and dropping it into the image uploader area. Give your image a name in the title field, and add the source’s URL and title.
- Title: Give your image a name like “Kittens playing with puppies”. Avoid using default names like “IMG_0051.jpg”.
- Source URL: The website URL the image was taken from. Do not link to the website’s homepage but rather to the page the image was taken from.
- Source Title: The website’s name the image was taken from. Use the website’s name (i.e.: “OnTopOf”) for the Source Title and not a URL (i.e.: “www.ontopof.com”).
- Please ensure that you read up on websites’ specific attribution policies to correctly attribute their images!
> How do I crop images?
When you’ve selected an image file to upload to your post, you can use the crop frame to adjust the picture’s size. When you’re happy with the size of the image, click “Save Image” to upload the cropped image to your post.
> I found a bug on OnTopOf. How do I report it?
